Week 21: Telling the truth

  • Browse the Net and find sites where lies are approached. make a list of the characteristics shown by a person who lies according to these websites.

  • Being vague: If the speaker seems to intentionally leave out important details, it might be because they are lying.
  • Vocal uncertainty: If the person seems unsure or insecure, they are more likely to be perceived as lying.
  • Indifference: Shrugging, lack of expression, and a bored posture can be signs of lying since the person is trying to avoid conveying emotions and possible tells.
  • Overthinking: If the individual seems to be thinking too hard to fill in the details of the story, it might be because they are deceiving you.

  • Try to watch the film Liar, Liar and give your opinion on it.

From the film, in which the main character cannot lie in 24h, we can see how many white lies a person can tell even in just one day. This is complicated for him as long as he is a lawyer and cannot do his job properly, and as long as he has been lying about when he was going to spend time with his son, he has to tell the truth for one day as his son's birthday party.
In my opinion, the film is a bit exaggerated, but sometimes you have to do as if you get on well with some people from your job for example, so I agree that maybe all this white lies are "normal".

Week 14: Colours

In my opinion, this colour attracts the most attention and is associated with strong emotions such as love and anger. Red is said to be used universally to signify danger, power and so on. I agree with the fact that the colours which the article talks about symbolise the different things.                                                        This picture for me represents growth and health, just like the article describes. Green has always had a strong association with peace and is a refreshing colour.  It is said to evoke feelings of abundance and a plentiful environment while providing a restful and secure feeling. Furthermore, blue, the shade of the sea and the sky, is thought to induce calm and convey tranquillity, serenity and peace. Welcome to the weather forecast . Now, let’s see what the weather is like today. In the north of the country it’s very windy and cold . There is a chance of some rain too, so don’t leave home without your umbrella! The temperature is around 10º centigrade . In the east it’s rainy all day today, I’m afraid. There may be a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The temperature is a bit higher, at around 13º. In the west and middle of the country the weather is dry, but cloudy . So no rain for you, but it is quite windy and the temperature is just 10º. The south of the country has the best weather today. It’s cloudy most of the time but sunny this afternoon. The temperature is around 15º. Thick mid and high clouds this morning over the state will begin to lift to the north, with just isolated flurries or sprinkles  possible along and north of Route 6 early this morning.
